I normally decorate the house for the boys before their birthday, but thanks to a random sickness, I passed out on the couch and went to bed super early Thursday night. Bob picked up the slack for me and decorated the house and had balloons outside Jacob's door just like I would have done. He roped off the kitchen and wrote a sign that said only 2 and 5 year olds could enter. Jacob was afraid to break through and crawled underneath at first, but I told him to bust through so I could finally get into the kitchen!

He opened up our gift to him, a Lego set, and was so excited. Love his bed head in these pictures.
Each of the boys took a bite or two of their morning cupcake and left the rest behind to go play with all the new toys that are in the house now!
We met some friends at Monkey Joe's. The boys had a blast, despite Joshua's look in the picture below, haha. He was tired at the end and would try to just lay down in there. He did end up getting a bruise on his cheek from colliding with a bigger boy in there, but he didn't mind much.
Joshua didn't want to be part of this picture. He stood with me to take the picture, haha. Boston, Maddox, and Jacob. They were so exhausted by the end of this!
We picked up some lunch and brought it home for an indoor picnic. Then, Jacob stayed up for a while and put together his police truck. He loves to read the directions all by himself and do the whole thing without any help.
Jacob and his finished police truck before he took a nap.
Jacob picked pizza and breadsticks for his birthday dinner. My parents came down to celebrate, and the boys played after dinner and Jacob put together the rest of his Lego set.
I normally make Jacob a cake every year, but I really wanted this year to be stress free and just enjoy the days with him. So, I ordered a cake from Kroger, and was so glad with that decision!
Jacob had such a wonderful birthday, and told me multiple times during the day that this was "the best birthday ever." He was such an amazing kid through all of the celebrations. He thanked everyone so nicely for their presents, was so polite through everything, and truly enjoyed all of his birthday fun and what everyone did for him. He is such a sweet, sweet boy with the biggest heart and kindest soul I could ever imagine a five year old could have. He is one amazing kid, and has a lot in store for himself in the future.
