Even though we live in town with my parents, it was really nice for my mom to plan on spending a whole morning together going to the zoo and eating at a nice restaurant downtown. We met at the zoo as soon as it opened, and got to see the sea lions being fed. Jacob started coming down with a cold, so he was a little sluggish, but it was still a wonderful morning together.

Jacob told my parents we could go in one bird area and not the other, because the bigger birds bite. He remembers those darn birds biting him twice and will not go back in there. I'm not complaining!
Joshua sat on this rock for a while, being patient while Jacob was playing with the bird faces!
The new play area in the bird exhibit is really nice, and Jacob loves the tree house.
After watching the monkeys, Jacob decided Grandpa needed a good grooming.
After the zoo, we headed to the Spaghetti Factory where mom had reserved us a table in the trolley. The boys were thrilled, and enjoyed looking out the "window."
Jacob was mostly thrilled we let him eat his pasta like this the entire time. He ate a ton of pasta just because we didn't force him to use a fork for the first time. Just that kind of day where the mess was worth it!
Grandma, Grandpa and the boys on the trolley.
The weekend ended with Jacob needing a trip to get some medicine for a sore throat. Our neighbor's little girl was diagnosed with strep, and when he started complaining of his throat hurting, I didn't want to mess around and risk not being okay for school this week. After two hours sitting together at the clinic, he did not have strep, but they went ahead and gave him medicine because his throat was swollen and red. He is already back to normal and ready for a fun week at school!
