A Boy and Buzz

Joshua LOVES Buzz.
Which is hilarious, since when he was born, we only owned one Buzz toy. Jacob never cared for Toy Story much. Joshua would crawl around carrying Buzz around the house. Now, he loves Buzz and Woody, and will fight you like crazy for these toys if someone else is playing with them. The way he says "Buzz" just melts your heart.
Jacob was at school for the entire three hours today. The first hour was spent with Joshua playing with his Sesame Street bus and fire truck. The rest of the time was spent flying Buzz around the house, having his Buzz and my Buzz help each other after falling, learning how to fly them high and low, dancing the Buzz's around the house, and giving them lots of hugs. Joshua's noise for making Buzz fly is the cutest little noise ever!
Today was the first day of the much needed one-on-one time we will have this year while Jacob is at school. I am so excited for him to have the run of the house for a little bit each day, and to really explore his own interests instead of always just doing whatever Jacob is doing and trying to be like his big brother. Joshua has a strong personality, though, so he has always been great at letting us know what he likes and dislikes!
Jacob had a great time at school. He made this caterpillar and I was so proud of him for how well he cut the circle out. We worked a little on scissors, but nothing major, so it was the one area I was a little worried about. I know he can use scissors, I just wasn't sure if he would get frustrated with them at school and give up. But, he did a fantastic job!
He cracked me up because I asked him if he did it all by himself. He told me no. I was shocked because you can clearly tell he is the one who cut all of this. He explained that he did cut it all, but he didn't put the brads in, Mrs. Johnson had to do that for him and all the kids. He is just our little honest Abe. I love the face he gave his caterpillar, too!

After the first day of school, and any special days at school, I like to take the boys out to lunch to just sit and talk about the day before getting home and getting sucked into playing with toys or me fixing lunch. I like to hear as much as I can about his day before he loses interest. Today, he chose to eat at Arby's, which was funny since we rarely eat there. We sat for about an hour and just talked and laughed.

Joshua cracked me up when we left school today. Yesterday, the school put out muffins and cookies for everyone for the first day. Joshua had a mini muffin, and he called it "cake." Today, he got downstairs and insisted on finding the cake. He would slap his hands on his thighs and scream, "cake!" He pouted pretty hard about it, which was very cute and funny!

Jacob's other picture he colored that came home in his bag. He told me this was "a big machine."
Jacob didn't have much to say about school today. He said he sat on the orange triangle, which is a shock because he ALWAYS sits on purple, including yesterday. He told us he likes "orange better than purple now." Purple has been his favorite color for over a year, so that was interesting! They had music class for the first time, and all the kids got a stamp, which is always a hit! He also desperately wants to go buy rainbow sherbert from the store. He told me the kids at school told him he could buy it at Target. They had that for a snack today - sounds like it was someone's birthday. I think Jacob gets frustrated telling me about school this week because he doesn't know everyone's names just yet, and he was so use to being able to tell me everything with everyone's names last year.

After naps, Bob got home and we treated the boys to a shake. When we got home, Jacob lost his bouncy ball in the couch. I took all of the cushions off for them to jump on and vaccuumed the couch. They love it when we do this!
Such a wonderful day, and love seeing the boys enjoy each other and still develop their own interests and personalities.
