Muddy Fun

This summer has been hot, dry and uncomfortable. Thankfully, we have been getting some rain recently and the brown city is perking up a little bit. The best part of it for the kids is letting them splash around finally. This morning we actually had a chilly morning. I put the kids in old clothes and shoes and let them chase each other through the puddles. They had a wonderful time. But, then I remembered the mud we had out back from where we pulled the deck out and haven't put anything back over it yet. The boys were filthy, and loved it.
These pictures are from the beginning of their play, so they are dirty, but not the end result! Getting them in the house without getting mud all over was a miracle.
Joshua kept slipping around in his shoes, so I took them off. He kept trying to get me to put them back on, and when he realized I wouldn't, he just carried them around the rest of the time.
We would have played longer, but it was pretty chilly for them to be out there much longer without jackets and getting wet in the mud. So glad I let them get filthy and not worry about the mess for the morning. Nothing like driving your trucks through sloppy mud and picking up fist fulls of mud and throwing it around.

Now, I have a bath tub to clean, but it's about time anyway!
