I think every parent anxiously awaits their child's very first program, excited to see them perform and sing (or not sing), be with their friends and show off what they have practiced at school for weeks and weeks. Jacob's 3-year-old preschool program was Wednesday, May 9, and I was beside myself on how proud I was of our little guy.
The day was an entire celebration, with the program followed by a teddy bear parade and a mother's day picnic. We had to decorate a float, and Jacob borrowed Joshua's little wagon and turned it into the best purple race car I have ever seen!
I asked Jacob what number his race car should be, and he originally said "18," but quickly changed his mind and settled on "100." He painted lots of "100"s on his little race car, and I love that he has his own ideas of how his car should look!
Here is Jacob the morning of his program (eating cantaloupe) with his float. This side has his name and tons of race car stickers, some sports stickers, and a few spiderman stickers!
My little man and me before leaving the house!
"Hey, mom!" I love when he does this - points and smiles! He is too cute!
"Thank you, God for sunshine, thank you, God, for sunshine, you're so good to me"
A better look at his awesome job on his name.
In the teddy bear parade. I loved seeing him parade around with his float that he worked so hard on.
After the parade, the moms and their preschoolers went to the classroom for a picnic. We sat with some of Jacob's dearest friends (Isabella, Gavin, Lizzie, Luke T.) and had some snacks. Jacob ended up getting food out of some of the other kids and brought back his loot so proud he had convinced them to share their cookies and fruit, haha. Then the kids sang some songs, went through the alphabet and did all of the sounds and the animals they know that go with the letter, and finished up with running like wild on the playground. I have been so lucky to find such a wonderful preschool, and that the boys and girls in Jacob's class have been so wonderful. He has really learned a lot this year - especially about friendships and learning how to choose friends you like and that treat you nicely. I am going to miss this year in watching him grow, but am happy that he will be with most of the same kids in his class next year.
